Comparison of blocks among themselves

22.02.2022

Foam concrete is one of the varieties of light cellular concrete made of sand and water from the foaming agent. Nowadays, this building material is in third place in popularity for the construction of private country houses.

Low thermal conductivity, low density of foam concrete blocks, with low cost and durability makes this material really the best. Now let’s try to compare this wonderful material with the arbolite.

Arbolite is a variety of concrete lungs and the main material in the manufacture of arbolite blocks use wood sliver.

So, as the density of the material below the better, thermal insulation is better. In construction, they mainly use non -autoclade foam concrete blocks with a density of 600 – 800 kgm3 with a durability of B1 – B3.5. The analogue is arbolite with a density of 600 – 650 kgm3 with a durability of B2 – B2.5. For comparison, we will use these technical parameters.

Foam concrete blocks with such technical parameters have low resistance to stretching, which leads to cracking during transportation and inaccurate circulation during construction. Arbolite blocks are reinforced with wood with a wood, which has high plasticity, which positively affects the bend. The arbolite block does not break, does not crack, only deforms (the deformed fate over time restores its original form). Accordingly, such an arbolite unit is difficult to damage during transportation or use in construction.

The finished house of erected from arbolite blocks does not crack over time for fluctuations in the soil, shrinkage or temperature, under similar conditions, the house from foam block must be reinforced, which leads to the complication of the structure and the costs are not metal.

Comparison of thermal conductivity: thermal conductivity of foam concrete blocks D600 – D800 is 0.14-0.21 W (MK), arbolite – 0.12 W (MK), here we see that the arbolite is much warmer and it can be saved with it on insulation materials, that is not to say about foam concrete blocks, then the costs of insulation of the house will be decent.

The cost of foam blocks is lower than the arbolite but if you add all the above factors, the price will be similar to the arbolite block.

Frost resistance foam concrete F25 – F35.  Arbolit has frost resistance F25 – F50,

Pentoton environmental friendliness is really high and inferior only to the tree.  Arbolite is 80-90% of wood.
