In Egypt, while scanning the monuments of Giza, a new corridor 9 meters long and 2.1 meters wide was discovered in the pyramid of Cheops.
Work has been carried out there since 2015, the newspaper Al-Ahram informs.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt Ahmed Isa, the pyramid of Pharaoh Khufu (Cheops) is one of the most famous pyramids in the world, because many holes were made in it, which were used by archaeologists to discover new secrets of the ancient Egyptian civilization.
Havas called this discovery “one of the most important made in the pyramid of Cheops in the modern era.” Inside the building, created around 2560 BC, there are two large chambers — the rooms of kings and queens. Two shafts lead up from them.
Previously, the passage to them was closed by large doors. Robots with video cameras were sent there. But the devices were constantly bumping into a new door. Currently, archaeologists hope that a large-scale scan will answer their questions.
