In the Askinsky district (Nagorno-Karabakh), an emergency occurred in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping contingent. Unknown persons violated the ceasefire.
The press service stressed that no one was injured as a result of the incident.
The leadership of the Russian peacekeepers, together with representatives of Armenia and Azerbaijan, launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, the ministry explained.
The Defense Ministry also noted that negotiations are currently underway with Baku and Yerevan to resume the movement of vehicles on the route from Stepanakert to Goris.
Recall that in the fall of 2020, military operations resumed in the region. With the mediation of Russia, an agreement was reached on a ceasefire, the exchange of prisoners, the return of the bodies of the dead.
Despite the considerable efforts of the parties, the agreements are periodically violated. At the same time, serious escalation has been avoided so far.
