The installation of stairs in private houses with several floors should be accompanied not only by the development of their clear configuration according to the required standards, but also by determining the number and size of the steps that form their basis. Before starting design work, the floor height should be measured. This measurement is not as a gap between the floor and the ceiling, but as the distance between the floors of the first and second floor. If such a dimension is not yet available, then you should take the first value and add the planned thickness of the overlap to it, taking into account the material, insulation and other structural components. The accuracy of calculations is needed to multiply the distance by the number of steps and their equalities.
The standard height of the riser is 0.15 m, the depth of the dungeon is 0.3 m, however, real values can vary depending on the design of the room. The difference in a couple of centimeters also does not go beyond the norm. The permissible limit of the number of steps is 18 units, however, with a width of 30 cm, the length of the stairwell would be 5.4 m, and its height is 2.7 m. Such a span would take too much area, so it is divided into two parts parallel or located in different projections. Nevertheless, subject to all the rules, even the distance, divided into two, would be too large, therefore, a small amendment of the above stage above the lower, about 5 cm is allowed.
The total number of elements is calculated by dividing the height of the stairs into the recommended parameter of the riser with a deduction of a natural protrusion formed by the beginning of the next floor. Above the bend of the stairs, especially if it falls on the site between the two marches, there cannot remain a distance of less than 2 m.
Of particular difficulty is the calculation of the sizes of curved steps, which are not a rectangle, but a geometric figure close to the trapezoid with a narrowing of one direction. Some measurements here become not enough, calculations require special knowledge are necessary. Those who wish to produce them on their own should know that the narrowest part of the wedge should not be less than 0.1 m, and wide – exceed 0.4 m. Moreover, the length of the axis in the middle part is not lower than 0.2 m.
